Boulevard Brewing “Tank 7” Review

Boulevard Brewing Tank 7 beer review by beer_reviewer

It’s Saison Saturday! Not really, but I could make that a thing. Anyways, I picked up this single bottle of “Tank 7” from Spec’s. It’s a farmhouse ale/saison brewed by Boulevard Brewing in Missouri. It has a nice 8.5% alcohol volume. Let’s continue to my review:
Poured from a 12oz bottle (best by date 23Nov15) into a Mikasa tulip.

LOOK: Pours with two finger’s worth of white foam that dissipates into a half finger’s worth within 2 minutes (love that slow dissipation rate). Pale gold in color with a moderate amount of cloudiness. Lacing and bubbles are subtle and the brew has a few scattered, tiny white particles floating around.

SMELL: Has very strong aromas of citrusy hops that combine with mild pale malt, black pepper, and floral hop aromas. A hint of wheat malts and earthy yeast aromas can also be detected.

TASTE: Initial taste is a combination of strong citrus hop and mild pale malt flavors. Mild floral hop and subtle wheat malt flavors flow in immediately after the initial flavors. Both malt flavors fade while both hop flavors persist as a hint of earthy yeast flavor and black pepper continue this symphony of taste resulting in a pleasant spice bomb of an aftertaste.

FEEL: Carbonation is somewhere in between high and moderate. Medium-bodied with an unpleasantly dry finish. The spicy aftertaste playfully agitates the tongue. Not the first farmhouse ale I have had, but it is the first I have reviewed. This one was great, I just hope the next one isn’t as dry.

OVERALL RATING: 4.13 out of 5. @Boulevardbeer
