Smoldering in at #4 for the year is the finest whisky I have had to date from @archierosesyd . The 2022 Stringybark Smoked Single Malt is simply superb.

Aged for approx 3 years in ex-apera (sherry) casks this blend of 5 different malts including a stringybark Smoked pale malt is un-chill filtered and bottled at 54% ABV

I first tried this beauty at a mates house, we were blown away and had to grab a bottle or two each, thankfully they were still available. Being a limited release there wouldn’t be many left and I’d highly recommend grabbing a bottle before they are gone.

Nose: Smoked pork ribs dominate with a sweet vanilla biscuit, citrus and marzipan backbone. A hint of eucalyptus hangs around the edges like with many Aussie whiskies.

Palate: Viscous and delicious, the smoked bbq meat continues from the nose with citrus and Anzac biscuits, a touch of spice completes a complex and amazing blend of flavours.

Finish: Loooooong, satisfying and complex. The smoked meat is replaced with a smoldering campfire smoke, the wood is noticeable, with dark chocolate, toffee and cumquat

For anybody that enjoys BBQ, this whisky is for you.
