Lost Monarch by Redwood Empire Whiskey

Coming in at #9 for 2022 is Lost Monarch by @redwoodempirewhiskey. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bottle of this thanks to an absolute legend in Kia from @honeybarrelaustralia who is bring in some truly epic whiskies to Oz, definitely worth giving them a look.

Redwood Empire Whiskey Lost Monarch Review

This is truly a dangerously drinkable whisky and after cracking it i found myself reaching for it again and again when i couldn’t think of what i wanted to have. A fantastic blend of 4 to 12yr bourbon and 3 to 5yr rye whiskies, creates for a really delicious and satisfying balance of flavour.

Nose: Vanilla buttercream, rosemary, toffee, pepper and rye spice, barrel char with some orange zest and leather.

Palate: Great mouthfeel for the abv, creamy and soft. Rye spice dances with charred oak and vanilla cream, that hint of herbyness continues from the nose with caramel

Finish: Medium finish with subtle herbs and sweetness transition into a satisfying drying oak that lines you up for another sip.

This is very reminiscent of the older high west bottlings and well worth a go.
