Thy Whisky BOG Single Malt Review
Coming in at #7 is one of the most interesting and unique whiskies I’ve come across in the BOG by @thywhisky , an organic single malt from Denmark.
This whisky used odyssey barley, 80% smoked malt and 20% pale malt and then was matured for 3 years in olorosso sherry casks.
The beechwood smoked malt brings in delicious bbq notes and immediately took me to thoughts of smoking meats on my BBQ’s, enjoying the day as the meat slowly cooks.
It combines beautifully with the sweetness from the sherry casks and at 57.4% ABV it delivers it in big bold waves.
My brother managed to grab this bottle for me from a little bottleshop in Berlin, Germany and bring it back home to Oz. I’m so thankful he did, so I was able to discover this gem of a distillery.
Nose: The beechwood is immediately evident balanced with rich red fruits, strawberry jam, vanilla cream, goji berries, brown sugar bacon. This nose is simply addictive.
Palate: Creamy mouthfeel with spice upfront, followed by smoked pork ribs, strawberries, beech wood and a touch of dark chocolate.
Finish: Long and satisfying with brown sugar, pork ribs, wood smoke and toffee apple.
